“Take care of our children and show them the way.”
We live in a culture of inactivity and overeating. Our children are listening to observe and learn about the life and adult life, we, their leader. They are not interested in what you have to say. They will carefully monitor how they live.
Schools, parents and local, state and federal leadership role in the education of our children and keep them in good shape. What kind of message they send to our children?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is twenty percent of our children are overweight at the age of 6 to 17. In 1980, only 6 percent of overweight children. Our children are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes was considered an adult disease.
In a local newspaper, I read a gloomy report. Physical education, music and art are to be removed from our schools, because there is no money to pay them. The budgets were cut and teachers are released. This trend has been practiced at some point. The funding of our education system is not expected to increase.
Are we really talking about money and jobs? The main task of our education system is to educate our children. Physical education, art and music are as essential for growth and development of our children in reading, writing and mathematics.
The CDC has determined that there is a causal connection between academic performance and physical activity at school, according to the report of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, April 2010, the relationship between school physical activity, including physical education and school performance. These results, combined with the health of our children it is important to find a way – with or without additional resources or teaching jobs – at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day back in our schools. We apply the approach to lead by example and show our children the importance of physical activity.
If schools lack the resources to hire additional teachers to implement physical activity 60 minutes a day, should an agency of the voluntary certification of personal trainers set up to establish the physical activity program. No Child Left Behind with respect to the health and academic performance.
Section through the entire planning committee and trial periods, and take the program of the bureaucracy and get to work. It was not enough and planning of programs that are easy enough to procure.
This is a very effective five-step program for achieving and maintaining health and fitness of our school children and their leaders.
Step 1: Find a mental escape
Step 2: Evaluate
Step 3: Train
Step 4: Maintain
Step 5: Once Again
Step 1: Find a mental escape
Parents, teachers, administrators, school boards and local governments, federal and state governments should maintain a state of mind, a way to implement 60 minutes of physical activity at school are at least five days per week. The values of the vision, mission and core of our public schools students are concentrated. The vision is to provide the best education for all students. We, as leaders and role models are our children accountable and responsible for developing and educating our children. CDC findings of a correlation between school physical activity and academic performance forced all the excuses for not find a way to establish this new fitness program in all our schools eliminate.
Step 2: Evaluate
All teachers and principals should be an example by an aptitude test, the true state of his health is really to set. Then they will do the same with the help of all decision-makers to do to set a time each day for physical activity for children and himself. The program will begin with a physical fitness test to determine the physical condition of each child. Set goals for each child on the results of the aptitude test and the corresponding entry is based.
Step 3: Train
School staff and children for the next fitness test about eight weeks after the first. The training will be community and non-academic activities. Any academic called into the field in all physical activities. You can then replace physical education and sports to keep in there.
Step 4: Maintain
Not enough to start an exercise program. The program must be continuous. Aptitude test should be every three or six months after the initial introduction of the program.
Step 5: Once Again
Do it again. He insists again to train in a repeat of the previous steps to evaluate and keep. The program never ends. Is that remains a vague and physical activity. School physical activity for at least 60 minutes per day is well established.
Everything we say and do not do has an effect on how we live and how our children to live. Waves of influence casting lead a sedentary lifestyle and overeating, unhealthy behaviors with others. Time to change this trend and change our culture to a sedentary, based on healthy activities. We owe it to our children. We are leaders and role models. Look out for our children and show them the way.
